The Moravia Union notes new staff including Miss Lucille Hockett from Seymour and Miss Hackett as English teachers. Miss Hockett, Seymour High alumnus, has taught rural and town schooling and recently attended summer study at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. Mr. De Motts, a Waupon High School graduate, will teach Social Science. his wife will teach third and fourth grades. Also mentions windbreak planting tips and a feature on fortune teller swindle in The American Weekly.
The U S Civil Service Commission announced exams for General Staff Nurse and Head Nurse with annual salaries of 2644 and 3497. Vacancies exist in Washington D C, across the United States, Alaska, and the Panama Canal Zone. Applicants must pass a written test and complete a three year nursing program or equivalent experience. Head Nurse requires extra nursing experience. Panama Canal age limit 35, Indian Service 40, others 62. veteran preference may waive limits. Local Secretary Gerald Morgan can provide forms and information.
