Moravia school teachers and families were honored at a church reception on Wednesday evening. Mrs. Frank Wilson led the program, with Mrs. Bert Turner organizing refreshments. Delmar Dowd welcomed guests and Introduced principals and teachers. Rev. Whitenack and John Wilson spoke. a skit narrated by Mrs. Ralph Turner followed. refreshments served after.
William Vinzant of Mystic announces the fifth annual Appanoose County Beef Producers Sale to be held Thursday October 19 at the McCreary Sale Barn Centerville. About 100 yearlings and 500 calves, both steers and heifers, from this and nearby counties are typically sold. Calves can be consigned with association officers or FHA extension offices, with consignments accepted now.
A one dollar per head charge is collected at signing and refunded when the farmer brings his calves to the sale. The fee applies per head and is returned after delivery of calves.
Ottumwa South Town district leadership announces a training day on Tuesday Sept 19 at Grace Methodist church Moravia. Registration opens 9 30 am with Mrs L L Fry Corydon district president presiding. A prelude by Mrs Carl Black and prayer by Rev Weldon Whitenack. Program includes officer introductions announcements and offering. Lunch at 11 30 am. Clinics 12 00 to 2 00 pm followed by Bible study. All local members and officers invited.
A cousins reunion was held Friday at the rural home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Woodward northwest of town. A carry-in dinner was shared at noon and the afternoon was spent visiting. Eleven southeastern Iowa counties sent extension staff to a Sept. 6 7 training conference in Ottumwa led by Harold Holden and Inga Eddy. The session outlined recent changes in local leadership and community boundaries and discussed forming multi county leader groups for long range economic and social development planning.
