Low Yield Payments Guidance issued by ASCS Office
The county ASCS Office outlined added provisions of the House-Senate Conferees Bill for 1977 low yield payments. Key changes include using planted acres for disaster payments, raising target prices for 1977 corn to 2.00 and 2.90 for wheat, increasing the disaster payment calculation to 60 percent of the established yield, and requiring production below planted acres times yield times 60 percent to qualify. Producers with planted corn for silage or non-feed use should file for acreage appraisal before use. Doyle Hampton, CED, emphasizes producers must file for low yield even without corn allotments.
