The Iowa Highway Commission notes driving costs average 10.64 cents per mile. A humorous population calculation ends with "you and me" doing all the work. In Moravia two windows were broken on the north side of the square over two evenings, likely from tomatoes thrown at Marshal Fred’s quarters by youths.
The first evening a Rebekah lodge window was broken then the next evening an Ivan Walters building window. Insurance does not cover such damage, creating costs for the lodge and Mr Walters. A plywood cover was placed over a large plate glass window. Also noted were demonstrations around the Pentagon and debris on government property. Dayne Taylor, former Moravia mayor, has died, deeply missed by the Moravian community.
A string of social visits shows Miss Jeanne Felton of Minneapolis staying with the Feltons, while Harold McCreary of Albuquerque spends time with the Hedgecocks relatives. Several families from Des Moines to Centerville and Ottumwa host relatives and friends, with trips planned to Nauvoo and neighboring sites.
California and Ola Dotson of Mo ravia visited John Dotson and Mr and Mrs Carl Whisler one day last week. Mr and Mrs Omar Eakins of near Blakesburg visited Sunday afternoon with Mr and Mrs Carl Whisler and John Dotson. Minnie Moffatt called on Anna Marie Selix Thursday afternoon.
Moravia Town Council met in regular session with all members present. The financial report was approved, with fund totals itemized, including General Fund 744.96, Street 722.36, Public Safety 245.70, Debt Service 1,891.61, Road Use Tax 538.24, Liquor Profit 1,318. Total 12,641.72. Bills were approved as read. several names and items listed under General Government and Municipal Enterprise, followed by adjournment and attendance noted.
Sunday visitors attended Delbert Calhoun home including Mrs Esri Swift and Thelma Calhoun with Leon Carol and Coy Swift. Earl Swift hosted Merle Dicks Thursday evening. Mrs Claude Rogers and Mrs Lloyd Ammons met in Ottumwa Wednesday. Quarterly church conference held at Center ville Methodist on Tuesday evening. Clair Long and Jeff visited Earl Swift Sunday. Coy Swift was an afternoon caller.

The Board of Supervisors of Appa Loose County held an adjourned session with Carl Evans Gail W Felner and Loyd N Carter present. They transacted the following business and approved numerous claims across General and Public Funds including Centerville and local suppliers while noting salaries, taxes, and aid disbursements for poor relief and county departments.
