Otha Hiatt trucked hogs to Ottumwa this week for Bert Fisher. Lloyd Stafford visited at the S Miller home recently. Mike Bokras visited Maurice Lillard Sunday. Mr and Mrs M E Boardman were business callers in Ottumwa recently.
Maurice Lillard and his mother visited the Earl Smith home in Weldon and the M. B. Hatfield home in LeRoy. Willard Shaw of LeRoy visited his brother Geo Shaw and family. Vera Selman and Merle Ann Lillard visited Wilma Boardman Saturday afternoon. Selma Johnson spent the weekend with home folks. Dorothea and Donald Darby called for Eva Boardman Thursday evening.
The Franklin Willing Workers club met with Mrs. Stella Argo on a Wednesday in October with good attendance. Officers elected for the coming year are President Mrs. Clara Brown Vice President Mrs. Olive Moffatt and Secretary-Treasurer Mrs. Nellie Turner. Next meeting is with Mrs. Clara Brown on October 25. Various local residents were noted visiting, calling, or attending events including funerals and social visits around Iconium Tyrone and Center ville.
Mr and Mrs Ike Anderson of Nebraska spent part of last week with Mrs Andersons brother E F Stansberry and family. Several Indies from this vicinity attended the Ladies Aid convention at Mystic Tuesday of last week. Miss Kathaleen Black who attends school at Kirkaville Mo spent Thursday and Friday here with her parents Mr and Mrs Jas Black.
Velma Boshak Ewing teaches as week seven ends. Examinations were held midweek and report cards issued Friday evening. Betsy and Walter completed studies of South America Europe and Asia. They begin Africa this week. Clifford and Hallien study the United States. Carl reads from primers and learns Roman numerals to thirteen. Selah Mae reads pages of her primer and explores another book. Ronald learns two poems The Cooky Parade and The Mouse s Party. Kathryn finishes second reader and begins Story Halle. Writing classes produced exhibit papers. Columbus Day observed.
