Miss Berniece Scott was taken to Ottumwa hospital last week where she underwent an appendicitis operation. She is recovering and likely to return home by week’s end.
The Charley Coffin family left their farm to move to Moravia, with a farewell at their home on Monday evening. Their son Carl and wife will live on the farm and continue to work the land. Relatives report the death of Clarence Scott in California, raised on his father’s farm now the Tom Workman place between here and Dennis. Relatives mourn his passing.
Ed Johnson and family and Henry Sytsman were shoppers in Albia Saturday afternoon. Mrs C C Kitterman of Albia and Mrs C A Johnson of Foster spent Friday at E C Caster home. Vern Wright and Vivien Wilson were Sunday callers at Zell Wilson home. E G Sincox and family and Mr and Mrs Grant Sincox spent Sunday at Herman Johnson home in Brompton. John Winfield and family and Mrs Newton of Waukee spent Sunday at Foster. Henry Sylsma and family spent Thursday at the Sylsma home in Albia. Willie Van Dorin and family were shoppers in Albia Saturday. Andy Madinson was a shopper in Moravia Monday. Laurence Jolson was a visitor in Albia Sunday. Alex Johnson and family were callers at Elizabeth Anderson home Friday evening. Cy Jones and family and Bayard Neff and family were Sunday evening callers at the E G Lincox home. Mrs Mary Leach departed Saturday for Florence Kansas to visit relatives.
Friday callers visited Jas Caylor near Centerville as F H Miller hosts neighbors. Des Moines guest Elmer Pennington attends church with C Coffin family. many locals attend dinners and a church shingles project at Miller Church with Ladies Aid plans for next Thursday.
The Rev L D Eaton conducted his regular Sunday service at Miller Baptist Church, delivering the usual sermon and leading morning worship as part of the church’s weekly schedule.
Mr and Mrs Wadsworth of Promise City visited over the weekend with their daughter Mrs Ben Williams and family. Edd Penes and son Lloyd took supper at Cass Hamiltons one evening last week. Mr and Mrs Ben Jones and family spent Sunday at the Von Tracy home. Several from this community attended Sunday School in Moravia. Loyd Brown hauled lime for Ken Williams Saturday. Gaylord and Eugene Main spent the weekend at Lloyd Browns Fred Callens and Mrs Frank Spencers. Girele met Wednesday with Mrs Joint Moore. Mr and Mrs Ed Delong were Moravia callers Friday. Hen Williams and family were Albia shoppers Saturday. Mr and Mrs Jot Patrick were Moravia callers Saturday.
Richard Main hauled coal to John Planta. Helen Hamilton spent Sunday with Enid Long. Mr and Mrs Van Long attended the funeral of Mr George Long. Wm Cree and Mrs Wm Oliver of Gentervila were Sunday callers at the J H Schreiner home.
