Mr John Repp has been helping Coy Swift with road work, Mr Tom Philby was calling in this vicinity Thursday. Moravia High School reports a lively pep meeting led by MHS band and student leaders. Girls basketball faced Mystic 72 to 6, while boys won 25 to 8. Highlights include A.B.C. club activities, traveling library adds 186 books, and upcoming debates on taxation in history class.
In Unionville the week featured home gatherings and visits from Des Moines to Centerville. Notable items include a newborn girl born October 4 to Mrs. L. E. Brooke’s family, assistance from relatives in Blakesburg Newton and Newton, and a large turnout for church and lodge activities. The community mourned Cora Hawkins, who died at St Joseph’s Hospital after a sudden illness, with funeral services held October 11 at the Unionville home and cemetery. Harris Stafford of Indianola visited Saturday evening at the 0.8. Miller home. Francis and Howard Robinson and Dale Smith were in Albia Saturday. Edward Robinson and family visit Mrs. Robinson's sister Mrs. Grace Moore in Minnesota. Mrs. C. McCoy visited Tuesday evening with Mrs. Beck in Blakesburg. Mrs. Clara Selby helps care for ill W. F. Boardman. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Capps were visiting at the T. Leach home. R. G. Vance of Eddyville visited M. E. Boardman home Friday. A L. Cloyed was a business caller in Moravia Friday. Prayer services at the O. S. Miller home Friday night were well attended. Mrs. Lulu Tillmont visited Saturday with W. F. Boardman. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Wilson welcomed a baby girl born October 2.
