Raya Ramblins Moravia shifts into a Homecoming atmosphere with student events, painted storefronts, and a powder puff football game where girls and boys mix in cheerleader skirts. Town meetings discuss ambulance subsidies, landfill costs, and street improvements reflecting growing local expenses and plans for relief.
The Iowa Academy of Science coordinates a ten year old program allowing Southeast Iowa Science Club students to visit Chicago sights. Five students and one sponsor from Town City travel October 10 to 12 by chartered bus, visiting Alder Planetarium Shedd Aquarium Museum of Science and Industry Sears Building and John Hancock Building while lodging at Ascot Hotel.
Senior co captain Stuart McDanel stars as Right Tackle on offense and Middle Linebacker on defense. He believes Mohawks have untapped potential and will surprise foes this season. He aims to play college football, admires Brant Yocum, and seeks support at Homecoming.
A group gathered at Mr. and Mrs. Clair Easter's house for a bonfire and hayride despite rain. The FFA and FHA thank the Easter family and Mrs. Fick and Mr. Carter for their support as two wagons plus a third carried riders under drizzly skies.
Science Club met on Thursday September 25 with 27 members present. President Randy Whithead read the proposed constitution and by-laws. the document was discussed amended and approved. The Chicago trip was planned for October 10 11 and 12. The next meeting is Tuesday October 7. Secretary Julie Haver filed notes.
