Four Moravia women Vanetah Tubaugh Carolyn VanDorin Grace White head and Hilda Walter began baking wedding cakes for church friends 15 years ago. Their venture grew into a philanthropic effort benefiting the church with notable community support.
Two women bakers have funded church improvements for 15 years from profits of baking wedding and anniversary cakes. They send all profits to church work, modernizing kitchens and restrooms, sometimes covering half the cost alone. They once saved a ruined wedding cake by baking two replacements overnight. They plan to continue as long as possible, praising the fellowship and service their project provides to the congregation.
Community notes from Griffinsville and nearby Bend tv feature attendance at Sunday School 29 and two birthday offerings. Visitors include Hope Teater. Local visits include Hapl Hufts and Lyndon McDeanell. Ruth McNair returns from travels. Daphne Shepard visits Mary Milburn. Harold Huff families in Iowa City.
Lynn Laffley at Emil Lotiga for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Shepard visited Mt. Pleasant and Buffington, then with Tom Lindoff. Jack Espy family at Harold Huff's. Lemley and Huff families at Mystic Methodist coop supper. Piano Club met. Donna Beaty and others attended sewing carnival at Bloomfield. Girls 4-H met at Philips home.
Mrs Dick Brown reports social visits around Vosburg. Mr and Mrs Pearl Runtells hosted guests Monday with Mrs Bob Zimimers and Mrs Paul Moore attending. Russell Brows attended the election day in Albia and a stop at Wakesburg Thursday. Brown notes Leta visited Friday and many other family gatherings near Albia and Loins.
A sequence of Sunday visits includes Mr. and Mrs. Vern Nunemaker of Billings and Mr. and Mrs. Reg at the Gerald Argo home in Carlisle. Truxton Bicks hosted John Laws, Vern Nunemaker, and Paul Dicks for Sunday evening calls. Don Wake and others from Pick Mo. visited George Run’s home for a few days.
The Apansose County Historical Society met Monday evening November 10 at the Museum with twenty members present. Mrs Myrtle Felkner is writing a book for the Society for Appatioose.
In 1912 onward notes a county history project asks residents to share information on prominent families or individuals in their area. Miss Myrtie Felkner, R R 3 Centerville IA 52544 is the contact. The Movetrent upstairs work continues with floor, papering, and carpet soon. THE UNION invites Christmas gifts and offers a free research option via a Christmas tree display of local thoughtfulness.
