Election Bring Changes in Appanoose Supervisors and Auditors
The Tuesday election brought changes in Appanoose County offices with about 8000 votes cast. New officers include Farnaworth as County Auditor, Gilliland as County Treasurer, Minnes as Clerk of Court, Morlan as County Sheriff, Johnston as County Recorder, Fenton as County Attorney, Exline as County Treasurer, and new board members. Results show a mixed county trend, with Moravia’s candidate Court returning by a slim margin and McFatridge defeated for Recorder. State ticket leaders endorsed Republicans Hickenlooper Beardsley Larson, while LeCompte led Steve Carter and Ted Clark defeated Carl Harlimah. Officials indicate the county shed construction may be approved, though precinct counting boards varied in placing the precinct results on outside envelopes, necessitating review of poll books for exact counts. Reed and Wilcox were elected supervisors for Monroe county, with Sterling Martin winning State Representative over Morissey. Sheriff Goodwin won over Bagley, and counts for 1951 term and later terms show Reed, Trace van Roberts, Davis, and Wilcox in various lead positions. no other contests occurred in Monroe.
