John and Mrs Dille receive a letter from son Rolin stationed in Manila. He writes of an office job ahead, ruined city blocks, the Government district ruins, lack of electric lights, busy street vendors, tents for lodging, mosquitoes, and the Red Cross opening a new facility with writing and recreation space. He notes many people killed and injured nearby.
Hall of Antiquity Lodge No 252 Moravia Iowa records a resolution of respect for Brother J B Kinion a revered member and Mason. The lodge expresses sorrow attests to his character and service to fellowmen and extends sympathy to his family. The charter is draped for thirty days and copies are sent for minutes and Moravia Union publication.
The Moravia Iowa RESOLUTION OF RESPECE A M meets to mourn the passing of Brother Roy Mancer a faithful member. The Great Architect and the lodge express sympathy to the bereaved family and commend Roy Mancers worth and character.
A committee led by Howard Smith Frank Swaim and P K Horner requests a charter be draped for a peel of thirty days in memory and a copy of the minutes be sent to the Moravia Union for publication.

Sunday visitors included Boswell Strunk at the Otha Taylor home with guests from Galesburg Illinois and New Virginia Iowa. Helen Habb visited her sister in Deep River while Paul Broshar traveled to Idea City for the Homecoming football game. Additional acquaintances hosted in Wellman and Oska lawas during the period with various local residents and family gatherings.

Thousands of Army veterans are urged to reenlist before November 21 to retain their discharge grades. Those discharged between May 12 and November 1 who reenlist by November 21 can return with their prior grade. six months’ service veterans discharged as privates get private first class if reenlisting by November 21. Additional provisions extend grades for those reenlisting shortly after discharge, with various dates in 1945 and 1946. Benefits cited include pay, food, clothing, quarters, medical care, travel, 20 days furlough per year, and education in about 200 trades. The feature touts Regular Army as a premier career option and outlines enlistment terms up to 144 3-year terms, or 1-year options for those with six months service.
