The Moravia American Legion Post invites discharged World War II veterans and servicemen home on furlough to a special meeting and party at the Legion Home next Monday evening. District officers Commander Morgan District Commander Jack Landis and District Vice Commander George Wood have been invited. All World War II men and World War I veterans are urged to attend.

Barn Fire Destroys Milo Foster Farm Outbuilding
A blaze about 10 o clock Tuesday night burned the Milo Foster farm five miles west of Moravia. The barn and corn crib were destroyed along with hay corn and oats, resulting in a total loss.

Robert Howard Declared Officially Dead In War
Mrs. Jennie Pollard reports grandson Staff Sergeant Robert Oward officially declared dead by the War Department. He was missing in action over Germany since April 16 1946 after overseas service from June 1944. A Moravia High School graduate, he worked at Climax Engineering Co in Clinton before enlisting in March 1943.

T Sgt Max Hiner and several others return home with honorable discharges from army air corps. Hiner served since Sept 17 1948 and went overseas in 1944. He earned the European Theater Ribbon with two Battle Stars and the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters. Johnny Dick Struck By Car Near Moravia Iowa
Four year old Johnny Dick, son of Mr and Mrs Carl Dicks, suffered a fractured skull and thigh bone after being struck by a car on highway 60 about 4 30 pm Saturday, one mile south of Moravia. The child and his brother were returning home from a neighbor when the accident occurred. The car was driven by Lao Radcliffe who said the child halted in front of his auto while watching another vehicle pass. The boy was taken to St Josephs hospital in Centerville with his mother, and hospital reports Tuesday said he remained conscious most of the time and appeared to be improving.

The Chariton zone rally of the Church of the Nazarene was held Friday at the Moravia church with attendees from Creston Centerville Chariton and Moravia. Special music featured Rev. The Taylor Township Farm Bureau group met at the Moravia community building for a co operative supper with guests from Chariton and Douglga townships.
