Superintendent A R Fenton recalled a North Central Association visit during the Junior Senior banquet noting the high school building looked nearly new at about eight years old. Students of Moravia school have taken pride in their building.
The Moravia community promotes neatness and discipline with praise for well kept buildings and students. Lucile Carter recalls a diner mishap at the Moravia Coffee Shop and a hopeful note about student contribution locally. George Woodward earns recognition for 13 years of perfect attendance at Commencement Chapel as the town gears up for a busy baseball Diamond season with multiple games planned through the week.
Douglas news notes three boys from Moravia and Moulton Udell who will graduate eighth grade with Joe Cridlebaugh John Clayworth and Tommy Spring named valedictorian Sonny Walker from Des Moines Debra Walker from Ankeny visited Milo Walker over the weekend Mark Hull stayed with Todd Phillips Tuesday night Susanne Long joined seniors at the Lake of the Ozarks
Friday and Saturday reports list attendees at Union Chapel and First Baptist church gatherings, a farewell picnic for visiting couples, and teens at Colfax high school graduation. Hosting and visiting at multiple homes across Udell Centerville Unionville and Des Moines area, with planning for vacation Bible school June 9 to 14 and a closing program on June 15.
Miss Mary Rose Main arrived Friday from Houston Texas to join her mother Mrs Grace Main also of Houston to visit their many relatives and friends in Moravia.
Church notices list services and events at multiple United Methodist parishes. Salem Moravia Grace Fairview Wesley Chapel and First Christian Church announce worship times Bible study plans vacation Bible school dates and Sunday schools with leaders named and dates May June and weekly activities.
Gladys Harsh reports social: Ruben Faber and Genevie Ealing host Supper guests. Paul Stewart and Denny from Muscatine visit Kenneth Free. Nadine Wood and others travel to Knoxville to see Grace Dooley. Herb Boblenz and Ivan Harsh visit Free. Kalvig and Donovan join Jr. Donovan for dinner. Frank Cossalott Carlo Cossalotta and R C Wilson from Center attend gatherings.
On Sunday Ville residents spent time with Mr. and Mrs. Jay Wilson and family. Friday evening brought Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Faber visiting Genevie Kaling and Bessie Donovan. Monday evening saw Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Clark with Kenneth Free. Weekend guests at Mount Ayr included Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Shields and Glee Harsh, plus Mrs. Martha Overton and Leora of Adel. Gen evie Kaling and Bessie Donovan hosted visitors including Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Boone and family, Lola Fisher of Blakesburg, Nancy Klampe and several others.
Sunday dinner guests at the Earl Swift home included many relatives and friends from Ottumwa Chicago Cedar Rapids Eagle River and beyond. The gathering celebrated Merle Dicks birthday as neighbors also visited and toured Rathbun dam area. Several couples shared weekend activities and attended commencement exercises in Albia with Roscoe Argo accompanying.
Improving weather allows full steam ahead construction on roads and bridges near Rathbun dam. Bridgeview area shows two concrete piers completed and rock rip-rap advancing while more steel and pilings are awaited. South fork bridge and Honey Creek crossing near Iconium progress.
The clipping lists numerous visits and gatherings across several households. Emmett Monte and Reta Derby spent Saturday at Larry Derby s home while Friday evening brought visits with Mrs Wayne Thompson and Constance. Sunday saw Roscoe Argo host visitors including Mr and Mrs Loyd Johnson and Lloyd Ammons family spent time at the Ammons home.
