Virginia and Freddie Strong attended a birthday party for Mildred Henderson in Ottumwa, spending the night at the Darwin Strong home. Nearby residents Nancy Carol Faber spent three days with seniors at the Lake of the Ozarks and the Prayer Circle met at Mrs. Ray Lockman’s home on Tuesday.

More Plantings of Test Plots At School Grounds

Test plots were planted at the new high school grounds under the FFA and county extension offices in Center Ville and Albia Moravia Farm Service Co furnishes fertilizer and Funks Seed Corns provides seed. Plantings include corn at 12 000 to 20 000 seeds per acre with varied fertilization and chemical weed control, plus 18 novelty corn plots, 14 oat plots, 8 soybean plots, semi-dwarf multiple ear corn, and tall multiple year corn. Results will be tabulated to determine profitable seeding rates and weed control methods.

Methodist to Have Visitation Sunday

Grace Methodist church plans the Every Member Visitation this Sunday afternoon. Visitor teams will call on each member home to present the new church year budget and secure commitments, followed by a catered shared lunch and a Loyalty Day service where visitors are consecrated. Guest Day At Chariton Baptist In May Tea Meeting

The Chariton River Mission Society met at the Chariton Baptist Church on Tuesday May 9. Thirty four ladies and six children attended an afternoon tea after an organ prelude and singing Beneath the Cross of Jesus. President Phyllis Dicks led the business meeting while secretary Phyllis Spaur read minutes. Association president Mrs James Frame of Humeston spoke on society procedures. The group invites others to join meeting the second Tuesday each month at 1:00 in the church basement. Roll call featured favorite verses. refreshments and May pole decorations were on display. Journey Home From Mountain Visit Ends With Gratitude

The Senior Methodist Youth Fellowship of Grace Methodist church met May 10 to elect new officers for the coming year. Mrs. Gold Dies In Florida Hospital

Mrs. Forest Gold, 73, died May 6 at 9 00 p m in a Hollywood Florida hospital after a stay since May 3 She was born Nina Tillmont in Watson New York and lived in Moravia Albuquerque and Des Moines She is survived by sisters Mrs Sidney Green Newton and Mrs J W Pendleton Miramar Florida and by David J Tillmont of Waterbury Graveside services were held in Albuquerque beside her husband.

Granddaughter of Moravia Resident to Spend Summer in Russia

Patricia McGuire of Laurel Springs New Jersey granddaughter of Mrs John Dodd will spend the summer in the Soviet Union as part of the State Department World Service program through the University of Delaware Student Association. She is a junior American studies major and will join 30 students touring Europe and the USSR with two weeks at a Soviet athletic camp. They depart June 23 for New York and travel to Genoa via ship with an overland Hungary route then visit Poland East and West Germany before Paris and home by Sept 1.

The monthly church night observance was held in the church parlors on a Wednesday evening. Mrs. Harry Woodward and Mrs. M. K.
