Farm Bureau backs extension program in Appanoose
The Appanoose County Farm Bureau reports it paid 5728.82 last year to support the extension educational program alongside county funds. President Young says the county’s 3000 tax allotment covered only a fraction of the program costs, with 2954-H youths and 504 farm families reached, 750 farms adopting new practices, and 896 volunteers aiding the effort. He warns ending the Farm Bureau extension link would force tax increases or curtailment of 4-H and related work.
