The Methodist church will start a Lenten evangelistic series Sunday with Dr. H. M. Cotchenour of the Chicago Evangelistic Institute as speaker. Services run each evening Sunday through Friday at 7:30 with special music. all are invited to attend any or all sessions.
The choirs of Unionville and Iconium Methodist churches present an Easter cantata titled Hail The Victor. Performances run Tuesday at 8:00 PM at Unionville Methodist and Wednesday at 8:00 PM at Feonlum Methodist with colored slides accompanying the vocal pieces. Public invitation extended to all residents.
Wednesday April 2 menu from the church kitchen lists Roast beef with brown gravy mashed potatoes and dressing green beans deviled eggs relish plate bread butter and jelly pie and coffee.
The Rev Basil Tadlock of Mora via Sunday became pastor of the Blakesburg circuit of the Methodist church succeeding Rev Dwight Bonham who was transferred. The Tadlock family will establish residence in Blakesburg. The circuit includes Blakesburg Mt Zion and Pleasant Home churches.
Moravia invites area boys aged 13 to 16 to a meeting at the schoolhouse Thursday at 5:00 pm to plan entry into the Babe Ruth league. Moravia will join Albia and Sevill a teams with weekly games and playoffs, with district and state opportunities. Joann Moore daughter of Mr and Mrs Elbert Moore and Charles Turner son of Mr and Mrs Bert Turner exchanged wedding vows Sunday March 23 at Grace Methodist Church in a double ring ceremony read by Rev John Grenfell. The couple’s reception followed with lavender and white decorations, a lace over lavender cake, and guests from multiple Iowa towns attend.
It is almost contest time for Moravia students as the annual school music event approaches. The two day event runs April 11 and 12 in What Cheer Iowa with eleven small groups and thirteen solos competing. Students practice long hours, hoping for several first ratings.

Mr and Mrs Francis Kincade hosted a coffee day at Dewey's Place on highway 60 to raise funds for the Crippled Children's drive. Proceeds from coffee sales were placed in a donation jar and a few cups brought in dollar contributions as the fund grew.

Mr and Mrs Donald Nash Des Moines greet a son born Monday March 24 weighing 7 pounds 11 ounces with grandparents Mr and Mrs Claude Underwood Centerville and Mrs Edna Nash Des Moines.
Moravia Community School District faces a reorganization election involving Chariton township Pleasant Hill Independence township west of Iconium and Monroe township. Petitions will define director districts and set hearings with the county superintendent to schedule the election before July 1.
At a special Moravia Community School District meeting Superintendent A R Fenton was rehired on a two year contract with a substantial salary increase. Most Moravia teachers received raises averaging about 100 dollars annually while some contracts varied. The district extended contracts for the high and grade school staff. Mrs Appler’s California school contract was not renewed due to low student numbers and election uncertainties.
Three men attempted break-ins at Veach Drug Store and Spencer Grocery around 1:30 a.m. on March 20. They forced rear windows, looted safes, grabbed cash and cigarettes, and fled as police pursued. Suspects were arrested in Coralville with burglary tools. two Moravia youths and a Mt. Auburn man face burglary and possession charges. bond set at $5,000 each. Insurance expected to cover most losses.

The W S C S met Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church for a dessert luncheon. Three school musical groups performed including a vocal trio Janet Harrington Joyce Kincade Jean Hawk a saxophone quartet Sandra Card Martha Rouse Jim Gillaspie Alan Dooley and a brass quintet Richard Mason Merrill Coulson Ronnie Woodward Linda Coulson and Diana Burton.
We thank friends for cards letters and deeds during our illness in hospital and after returning home. It is greatly appreciated by the Earl Clarks and Mr and Mrs Jack McDonough and their children who visited Ellsworth with Mrs George Abell and a family.
Mrs. John Veach, chairwoman of the Moravia Red Cross drive, reported on Monday that $161.05 had been contributed. She was aided by a corps of volunteer women in the fundraising effort.
Luther Caster was subjected to major surgery Tuesday at Ottumwa hospital. His son Luther Caster Jr of Monroe visited, and Mrs. Caster and their children stayed with his mother during the day.
