Crops grow well under warm weather conditions. Farmers report ideal conditions for the corn growing season. Much replanting occurred after wet cold weather disrupted initial plantings, according to the Dowd Bros. observations.
Farmers report poor germination on about 100 acres of soybeans and 30 acres of Odin. At Ernest Kincade pond north of Moravia, the pond was drained and rotenone applied by Mark Uhlenhake with conservation aid. Hundreds of rough carp died, leaving two bass and a few bullheads. The Kincades will enlarge the pond and restock with better fish and try to keep it clean. Young locals collected half-alive fish along the shore.
