The county auditor offers copies of the Rey Rambilin financial report book for public review. The 1949 General fund shows shortfalls with most departments overspending except Sheriff, Coroner, bounties, district court, and a few others. printing alone rises from 6,961 in 1947 to 11,640 in 1949.

County records show official board proceedings cost 3301 in 1949 down from 4489 in 1848, and notices dropped from 1046 to 917. Printing categories rose widely while county printing largely moved out of the area. A bond issue of 30000 for road equipment construction passed the 50 percent threshold but failed to reach 60 percent, pending state ruling. Also local notes mention a pet death and anglers recalling weekend experiences.

Mr and Mrs Bernard Kitterman and daughter Kay were Albia callers. Olive Moffatt and son Roy dined at the Joe Lucas Jr home. E F Stansberry visited Roy Moffatt Thursday. George Ostermier and Roy called at Pete Sulentic's Tuesday. Roy Moffatt visited Coy Swift Thursday. Kay attended Mrs Kitterman’s niece wedding in Moline Illinois Saturday. Plants should be watered as soon as they are set out.
