The Appanoose County Board in an adjourned session approves certificates of employment for Eva Johnson and Harry Stamos and authorizes signatory action. Lawrence Henderson resigns from the Soldiers' Relief Commission, Cecil Gray appointed for a three year term starting June 1 1940. D Reo Bryant's official bond as Justice of Peace in Franklin Township is approved. The board adjourns to meet at the auditor's call.

Harold Hudgens appointed street commissioner with labor payments and hall expenses noted.
On May 10 1940 Moravia Iowa council met with all members present and passed a resolution approving the extension of Secondary Road No M within Moravia. The plan covers grading draining and surfacing from Sta 00-88 to Sta 26-88 and authorizes steps to establish grade lines prevent encroachment remove obstructions and proceed with legal actions as needed.

Mr and Mrs John Sutton were Sunday visitors at Raul Loxman s. H Robinson of Cedar Falls spent Saturday and Saturday night at the R A Faber home. At present he is visiting at the W V McAlister home. The Otts Davis and Duane Sinclair families drove to Pleasantville Mr and Mrs Lloyd Stocker Daphne Stocker and Carl Coop and family attended the Register and Tribune picnic at Des Moines Monday. R A Faber and family were Sunday visitors at the W V McAlister home. Jacob Stocker was an afternoon caller. The GC R Sandifer family is vacationing in Minnesota. John Fisher and family drove to Colorado last week where they will visit their son Roy. Arthur Anderson has been working for Albert Coop. Loyd Stocker is working for W V McAlister Ira Stufflebeam of Unionville and granddaughter Miss Harris of Bloomfield were business callers in this vicinity Friday of last week. Albert Coop and family were Sunday visitors at the parental Coop home.
Brompton Herman Johnson and family were Sunday dinner guests at Roy Fisher's. W F and E F Boardman with relatives visited Ed Robinson's. Mrs Katie Miller recovered from a minor operation in Albia and stayed with Ethel Roberts. Several families hosted and visited across Albia Ottumwa Des Moines Moravia Denver Garden Grove and Eddyville including Johnson Darby Billings Fisher Boardman and Burton in various social calls and birthday observances.
Wayside notes show Mr. and Mrs. John Sharp visiting W. S. Norton on multiple days. Edna Tuttle called on Farrie Norton and other neighbors, while Woodrow Norton and Edward Pointa visited Tom McCrory's. Della Norton returned from a week away. Jack Tuttle called on Woodrow Norton.
Kinser Valley Zell Wilson sent veal calves to a cooperative sale in Albia on Saturday. Donald Darby visited friends in Lovilla Sunday afternoon. Leroy Wilson visited with the Casterboya on Sunday. The Hoffman brothers of Moravia sheared sheep for G. R. Darby, Zell Wilson, and Jep Loekman on Wednesday. W. M. Perry delivered cows and calves Wednesday afternoon. Albert Rouse and daughter Blanche were here Thursday. Mr. Rouse measured the corn acreage. G. R. Darby and son Donald were at the Wm. Perry farm on Miller Ridge Wednesday. Goodman of Albia was here Wednesday evening buying wool. John Robinson dined with his sister, Mrs. G. R. Darby, Sunday. The Harry Felton family visited Sunday afternoon at the G. R. Darby home. We inspected our small grain.
