Raya Ramblin leaves Ottumwa on a 2 30 train heading to Chicago airport Sunday morning. The note notes a ten minute delay and mentions a return to Moravia as a possible wish. A rain spell dropped one and a half to two inches over the weekend aiding crops but raising humidity.
Sunday evening visitors included Carrol Brees family Albia and Lute Hiatt. Visits by Cyril McDanel and Ralph Shellquist households followed by a Lake Wapello picnic. 2% rain on weekend brought relief to crops. Bible school program at Moravia EUB Church described as real good.
Mrs. Leo Hoffman notes Congratulations to Mr and Mrs David Callen on their wedding. Harold Callen and son arrived from Arlington VA for a family visit and wedding festivities for Beverly Hedlund and David Callen. Relatives gathered at multiple homes in Ottumwa Albia and West Point during a busy weekend with picnics and dinners.
Work begins this week on a $3,000,000 Maytag headquarters in Newton. The four story, nearly windowless complex will join the existing main office and total 132,000 square feet when completed in about 18 months. The expanded offices will house most headquarters staff except the research and development division, which stays in a separate building across the street.
Theresa Brown attended a club at the home of Dorothy Calhoun on Wednesday. Numerous residents hosted or visited friends and relatives around Pleasant Hill including the Argo reunion at Verda Argo’s home, Mrs. Delmar Massman’s passing, and Elbert Moore’s birthday celebrations with family and neighbors.
Several families share weekend visits and gatherings in Kellogg and nearby towns. Prairie county residents attended church programs, hosted guests, and celebrated birthdays while a Keosauqua reunion honored the Raymond Hughes family of Boulder.
Mr and Mrs Floyd Green and family were Saturday dinner guests at the Fred Taylor home. Cindy and Steven are spending a few days at Bert Rinehart's, Bobh Scietsinaki and family.
On Saturday Blaine spent time at the Ave brey Christy Homié owned by Mr and Mrs Don Whitehead. On Sunday evening Sally Jo called Al Bert Rinés hart.
