Points Home Burns to Ground Near Hilton
The Ed Points family lost their John Goode farm home north of Hilton to a Monday evening fire caused by a gas stove leak. The Albia unit arrived after flames had engulfed the house, destroying nearly all belongings including clothes, with only a Raven-Port chair TV and a small dresser saved. No insurance covered the loss, and the couple had previously lost a home on the Miller farm south of Moravia. Welfare aid pickups are coordinated through the Union office or Francis Turner.

Moravia Rebekah Lodge to Honor Past Noble Grands
On May 25 the Moravia Rebekah lodge held its regular meeting led by Helen Lou Stocker. Plans were made to honor all past noble grands at the June 8 gathering, with an invitation to them. McCoy Buys 60 Horse Collars in Morayk Trade

Services Tuesday for Orlando Sears
The funeral of Orlando Sears 77 who died Friday was held Tuesday at 2 pm at the Turner funeral home. The Rev F A Richardson of the Evangelical United Brethren church officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest cemetery. He was born September 12 1881 the son of Ossa and Priscilla Sears and spent most of his life in this community. He was married August 5 1927 to Hazel Dudley who died April 4 1954. He is survived by two sons Donnie Sears of Des Moines and Richard of Keokuk and a daughter Mrs Helen Porter of Des Moines, two brothers Otis and Rollie Sears, two sisters Mrs Minnie Pool of Centerville and Rosa Wright of Kirksville Mo and three grand gong.

Mrs. John Dodd reports the sudden death of her youngest brother Oliver Epperly in an automobile accident. He was driving from a mountain cabin toward Whittier California when forced off the road by a drunken driver on the wrong side. His car rolled over 300 feet down the mountainside. he left behind a wife Mildred, three married children, three sisters, and two brothers.
