Services Tuesday For Ben Williams

Ben Williams died at 2:30 am Sunday at his farm home six miles southeast of Moravia after illness since last fall. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at the Evangelical United Brethren church with Rev Faye Garner and Rev Lynn King officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest cemetery. Williams, 71, was born Sept 9, 1882 in Decatur County Iowa and married Nellie Wadsworth March 9, 1910. Survivors include his wife, two sons, two daughters, seven grandchildren, and several siblings and relatives. He joined the Lord Jesus Christ Oct 16, 1953. The Turner Funeral home directed arrangements.

Mrs King Addresses Mother Daughter Group Meeting

The Women''''s Society of arid Services and Girls Missionary Guild held a mother daughter meeting Friday night at the E. A. B. church with 70 attendees. A cooperative supper followed. Lesson leader Mrs. Clif ford Paxston led a mission study on Florida. Mrs. E. G. Hawk welcomed guests and honored the eldest guest Mrs. Van Lemaster and the youngest daughter Deborah King with potted plants. Mrs. Lynn King delivered the address.

Mrs Alma Plants Dies in Des Moines Hospital

Word was received of the death of Mrs. Alma Plants 43 wife of Roy Plants of Brooklyn at Mercy hospital Des Moines after an operation Tuesday. She had been in failing health several months and is survived by her husband a son James in Korea and a daughter Mary at home. Mrs Helma Tisue left Wednesday to be with her son and family.

Death of Harold Craver Reported at Des Moines Veterans Hospital

Word came to friends of Harold Craver death at the Des Moines Veterans Hospital. He was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs Lonnie Craver of New Sharon. Mrs Craver was Sophia Mortland, once living northwest of Moravia. Harold died of cancer.

Poppy Distribution Realizes $82 With Auxiliary Efforts

Mrs. Amy Mosley reports $82 realized from the poppy distribution on Saturday. The American Legion Auxiliary canvassed the town and distributed poppies on the streets. A poppy poster contest sponsored earlier was displayed last week to promote the drive.

Moravia Garden club met at Mrs. Leonard Palmer’s home on Wednesday afternoon May 26 with 24 members. Mrs. John Veach and her committee discussed posting Jitterbug signs and placing containers for loose papers wrappers and gum to keep town neat. Mrs. Ira Boyer reported on district flower show committees. Tea committee asked each member to provide two or three dozen cookies.
