Why is strap so important in the national war effort
Her bert C. Plagman explains steel can be made from pig iron or scrap but scrap saves ore coal and limestone. To reach 1948 steel goals 48 million tons scrap needed this year. Iowa’s 1943 heavy farm scrap quota set at 100 thousand tons. Also notes county tax adjustments and various wartime admin items including labor disputes, ration book mail, and fuel conservation measures.
