High Fertility Aids Soil Conservation In Iowa Farmland
ISU extension agronomist Regis Voss says regular soil tests and timely plant foods boost fertility, making crops leafier and denser, reducing runoff in heavy rains, and thickening pasture sods. Higher yields also cut production costs per acre, though proper management and fertilizer use raise returns.
