Summer activities at Mo Ravia High School near end this week as regular games finish. Four teams in Little Girls league, three in boys Little League, a Babe Ruth squad, and high school baseball and softball occupied many youths. Scheduling proved tough. much credit to Ronnie VanZante for organizing the season.
Ronnie and Lois VanZante receive credit for managing the Moravia diamond summer activities including scorebooks, uniforms, refreshments, and facilities. They plan a de served vacation, as school nears and lake use grows. Bob Hiatt notes rising Rathbun Lake traffic with new facilities planned, while Moravia eyes east side development and permanent street work to boost growth and funding. Katherine Rainbow chapter marks 50 years with former charter member celebrated at Bonaparte, highlighting aging and Rainbow presence.
News from Unionville reports numerous local calls and visits. Mrs Clifford Burger notes several guests and drop ins with families including the Millers Burger Proctors and Burges, plus travelers from Wheatland Hawthorne and Missouri.
Mr and Mrs Bob McKinley and families, Meris Bailey and families, and Knowles of Genterme join Brenda Robinson and Fai in a Saturday outing with Mr and Mrs Howard Burkland family. Ruby Gordon visits home. Jewel Burkland stays with sister Agnes Bear and Clover Ann. Ruby Hedgecock and Geneva Houser visit Lew Hodges in Centerville and Oakland apartments. Mrs Burdett Cox and daughter Mire, Jim Logan, Steven, and Greg dine with Minnie Moffatt. Bert Kirby visits the Burklands. Alice Simms visits Monnie Moffatt. Otto Whisler and John King of East Moline stop by Carl Whister’s home. Clover Ann Bear stays with family.
Wednesday night and Thursday with grandpa and grandma Burk land Cletis Leonard of California was a caller of the Carr Whislers Sunday Lela Whisler and sister Zola Saum attended Fairview church with Mr. and Mrs. Otto Carr and then to the Carr home for Sunday dinner In the afternoon Mr and Mrs Ross Whistler called to take them to their home for Sunday evening supper They are having a household goods sale Thursday at Zola's home in Udell Leslie Cook had dinner Monday with Anna and Howard Burkland Several of the girls and boys from Udell are detasseling corn Rain is forecast How wonderful this Tuesday afternoon and evening Mr and Mrs Purvis Hedgecock visited their son Larry and family who are vacationing at Rathbun lake A picnic was held at the Rathbun lake in honor of Mr and Mrs Lloyd Kates of Florida and their daughter Becky Coons and daughter from Washington DC on Sunday July 13 Attending were Mr and Mrs Purvis Hedgecock and son Larry and family Mr and Mrs Oren Starr and family Mr and Mrs Lee Haig of Des Moines Beverly Iseral of Des Moines Mr and Mrs Bill Allen and family Mr and Mrs Gerald Starr and family Mr and Mrs Keith Iseral and family Mr and Mrs Glen Gravitt and Mr and Mrs Joe Sprouse and family.
Mrs. Burdett Cox and Bill Sherwood visit and host at various homes. Jimmie Logan and Steven tripers call. Mae Harper and Lula Hiatt are seen. The Cox family gathers for suppers and dinners with Neal, Dale, and Kenneth families, plus Paul Cridlebaugh’s house guests on vacation in western states.
Ard Raymie completed carpentry on the Jimmie Logan home last weekend. Basement and garage foundation are finished while sub floor and tights to square were laid. The house sits on old highway on Moravia north edge, near the Mihalovich property. Nyle Cox visited neighbors and the Logans with several Cox family members for Brian Cox’s 14th birthday celebration.
Ap panoose County Zoning Commission to hold a hearing at 8 00 p m in the Assessors Office on Wednesday August 13 1975. The proposal is to change 2 acres more or less from Agricultural District to Residential District in Mystic city limits Section 10 Township 69 Range 18. Owner Erwin P Meyer with A R Fenton Chairman.
Attendance at Sunday School was 33. Mr and Mrs Guy Dixon of Russell visited Ruth McNair. Nevella Shepard joined Evelyn Bear for a trip to Des Moines to see Frederick Bear in hospital. Dollie Huff Ruth McNair Opal Lemley attended a club at Faye Cross. Vicke McClanahan stayed with grandparents, the Merril Shepards. Mr and Mrs Emil Long attended.
A string of visits and gatherings across Centerville and nearby towns fills a recent week. Families such as the Shepards, Lains, McNairs, Millburns and Walkers shared meals, birthdays, and outings while Dorothy, Judy Guinn, and relatives arrived from South Carolina and Desoto. A picnic by Rathbun lake plus a note on George Lain’s new home progress capped the report.
