Imus maps a large artificial lake project after decades of talks, while a Lake of the Ozarks weekend near Camdenton highlights holiday crowd caution and local lodging notes.
A large holiday weekend filled Moravia with rodeo fans, making lodging scarce as 13 640 paid admissions and 2 000 plus rodeo workers swamped the town. Hotels were full as visitors spilled into parks, shade trees, and piers along the lake area while policing struggled. Nearby towns and states sent hundreds of thousands to spend vacation money, with few fireworks noted and locals sharing weekend memories and gatherings.
New Hope residents and guests gathered for weekend visits across Mount Ayr Centerville and Polo Missouri. Among attendees were Gladys Harsh Ivan Sheilds Marilyn Eddie Debbie Jordan L. E. Jordan Vannessa Newt Long Loyd Carter C. C. Cullers and others with multiple family gatherings and dinners noted.
Mrs H B Spring and family left Monday for a trip to New Mexico. On return, Lawrence Powell and children drove to Central District Young Peoples Camp to take Gloria Spring to camp. The group enjoyed a picnic in Washington Iowa. Cecil Morlan and relatives spent Tuesday evening at Alvin Springs. Chariton visitors called on H B Spring. Edna Moore visited E A Caylor. Mrs Ruth McCoy of Lovilia stays.
Long list of Centerville area residents and relatives attended gatherings across Missouri and Iowa. Guests included Mr and Mrs Ralph Pfannebcker, Mr and Mrs Cecil Morlan, Edna Moore, Sammy Moore, Bob Barrickman, Rex Exline, Ora Powell, Marilyn, John Grindle, Dewey Houser, Maggie Mitchell, Ben Glasgow, and many others. The entries describe dinners, suppers, picnics, and weekend travels to nearby towns and lakes, with relatives in Newton, Moravia, Sigourney, and beyond.
July visitors at the C E Paris home included Mr and Mrs Rawleigh Morrison Rev and Mrs Roscoe Morrison of Ottumwa Mr and Mrs Henry Putney and family of Missouri Valley Wilbur Gene Paris of Lincoln Nebraska and others as they marked the birthday anniversary of C BE Paris Also noted were visits by Gene Judge and Dean of Des Moines and Sue Putney returning home with her parents
Mrs Wilbur Miller received word Monday morning that her father Frank Gibbs of Seymour was not so well and is under a doctor's care.
Mrs Bertham Miller hosted Tuesday afternoon events. Mr and Mrs Percy Hughes of Seymour will attend services at the Miller church Sunday morning.
