Mr and Mrs H B Spring and families visit California relatives while others travel in for visits with kin. A charity chaiivari for Mr and Mrs Tommy Doggett drew neighbors. Local families relocate to Udell Centerville and Cedar Rapids, with Farm Service meetings and church events shaping the week.

Evelyn McCrory and Sharon McSparen spent Monday at the Lloyd Callen home. Verta Hoffman attended aid at E A B church Wednesday afternoon. Harold Hoffman of Marion visited Leo Hoffman’s home Wednesday and Thursday. Joan Pettibone Janice Moore and son visited Patti Hagerman. Lloyd and Eugene Callen helped with wood sawing at the Norris Callen home Saturday afternoon. Beverly Hedlund David Callen and Gene McCrory family visited Sunday at Lloyd Callen’s home. Ellen Cooper six year old daughter of Darrell and wife is a patient at Monroe County Hospital with pneumonia. We wish the family well.
Mrs. James Wilson Mrs. K C Potts and Mrs. Andrew Mosley attended a polo tea at Iconium Methodist church Monday afternoon as part of a social gathering praising a speedy recovery.
The Union Livewires held their regular meeting at Sherman Kelly's home on Thursday January 16. President Richard Coltrain opened with the pledge and singing America. Gary Roberts read the secretary and treasurer reports. Bill Rogers demonstrated fertilizer storage and Wilbur Strunk discussed nail extraction. Coltrain spoke about a county 4-H meeting he attended. Peggy Rogers and Joyce Roberts joined the club. Members present included Michael West Larry Coltrain Max Hawk Sherman Kelly Jay Taylor Donald Strunk Bill Rogers Billy Bob West Richard Coltrain Gary Roberts Wilbur Strunk and Peggy Rogers.
The meeting closed with the 4H pledge led by Paul West as Mrs. Kelly provided refreshments including doughnuts cookies popcorn balls cocoa and coffee for the club and parents. Reporter Wilbur Strunk logged the event.
On the January day in 1958 the District Court of Appanoose County Iowa appointed C L Johnston attorney for estate and C C Coulson as administrator of Effie Florence Gallaher deceased.
