Mark Van Zante celebrates an upcoming July birthday while family and neighbors share meals attend sew clubs and Extension meetings. The Appanoose County Farm Bureau National Policy Committee met February 23 at 1 00 p m in the Agricultural Building to study proposed national legislation fitting township resolutions. Senate bill 1125 drew interest for corn producers to join soil bank and price support programs. Letters from Sen Martin, Sen Hickenlooper, and Congressman LeCompte were read praising Farm Bureau engagement. Attendees included Mrs Glory Johnson, John Noble, Paul Traxler, Courtney Siglin, and George Scott.

The Franklin Farmers 4 H club met at Connie and Max McAninch home on February 18 1957. Dennis Arzo presided as the pledge was given and a shoe shining demonstration titled How to Properly Shine a Pair of Shoes was shown. A skating party was planned for Friday the 22nd with Hatting Habits as the discussion topic. Secretary report by Orville McCord for Dick Sneeden who was ill with measles.
