Treated oat seed may save money in Appanoose County
About one fifth of Appanoose county oat producers plan untreated seed, risking future losses. Tests show 46 percent of Town State College seeder samples contained primary or secondary noxious weed seeds, with 21 percent containing one or two kinds. Farmers often plant untested seed, saving pennies now but risking added costs from weed control and lower profits later.
