Robert K. Beck, Centerville Jowegian managing editor, announced last week his bid for State Representative. The move aims to improve local representation as Moravia explores a potential new gymnasium, with Moravia faculty discussions reflecting upbeat possibilities.
The Moravia school contemplates expanding its gym by converting the present hall into the new gym space, digging it deeper for higher ceilings, and adding seating and a stage area. A remodeled stage would create additional classroom space, with a 40 by 70 foot playing floor and dressing rooms. The board expects a year end financial statement showing the district operates debt free, and hopes a well planned project could yield a quality facility akin to nearby Moravia areas.
A fox hunt at Iconium on Tuesday February 12 drew a large crowd. A noon dinner served by Methodist and Christian church women fed 74 fox hunters and many helpers, with lists of attendees and food donors.
Hazel Hellyer reports a weekend of visits and stays across Centerville and nearby towns. Many families including Jones, Potts, Brown, Hamilton, Hellyer, Rinehart, Whitehead, DeWitt, Argo, Casteel and Veach shared Sunday and Saturday gatherings at various homes and hosted Farm Bureau events.
Monroe township held a Hilton meeting Tuesday night with local families attending. Readers report numerous visits among Van Dorin and Faber families, school Valentine party attendance, and church and funeral gatherings. Celled guests included Darrell Caster family of Albia, Leo Van Dorin, and other relatives from Cedar Iowa, Plano, and Albia.
Richard Dicks and Edna Mae Luse were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dicks Friday. Francis Argo family stayed with Jay Argo Saturday night. Russell Brown and Dick Brown visited Harry Lemaster Sunday in Centerville. Alameda visitors James Casteel and family joined Truxton Dicks Friday. Gilbert Callen visited Richard Allen Sunday afternoon. Jay Argo Merle Dicks hosted with Clyde Dicks Sunday. W S C of the Methodist church held a progressive luncheon Thursday. Russell Brown and Dick Brown visited Merle and Nona Dicks Monday amid a mumps siege for Donald Dicks. Iconium Methodist youth spent Sunday at Russell Brown home.
Attendance at Sunday School was 49. Rev Graves of Tangietets Missouri preached both morning and evening. Laura Martin called at Roy Sulser home. Jerald Fenton and Stephen visited Dwight Fenton and Barr Martin at Frank Martin home. Elaine Curtis was ill and missed school Thursday and Friday. Barr Fenton and Roy Sulser were visited Tuesday. Edna Vickrey called on Betty Lou Taylor Monday.

Mrs Doane Saleer learned Wednesday of the death of her sister Mrs Rose Dimmit. Funeral services were Thursday at Mystic Cemetery with burial in Mill Edgeville. Des Moines hosts for visits include Dwight Fenton and a shower for Dixie King. Various local families gathered at homes and visited Centerville area kin over the weekend.
Taylor and Hatokt families spent Saturday evening with the Taylors and Rig followed by a Sunday visit by Gene Rig Larry and Linda at the Higin home. Jeda Bigin visited the Sulzer home Friday afternoon.
