Governor Hammill appoints Howard Ballew of Appanoose County as a member of Iowa’s eight official delegation to the National Air Parley in Milwaukee on February 24 and 26. The appointment honors Ballew and marks Iowa’s plan to send four senators and four representatives to the conference.
Milwaukee railroad outfits five hundred Majestic radios on select trains. Trains 0, 268 and 26 through Moravia during the night receive the new equipment. Installed about ten days ago, the radios are reported to provide the best satisfaction.
J. My Cate from Centerville visited Moravian Saturday afternoon and distributed large quantities of honey to the community. A brief Union note provided him nationwide publicity, bringing in many customers in a single afternoon.
Wm Gardner proprietor of the Gardner Hatchery in Moravia says the advertisement in this paper last week brought several orders and may have attracted more poultry buyers. He plans further ads as the season advances and will continue using the Union to reach poultry raisers. Also promotes heavy ice chains from Gamble Stores Centerville Iowa.
Neighbors gathered February 8 at the A H Higley home six and one half miles northwest of town for a farewell before moving to a farm near Ventura and nine miles from Clear Lake Iowa. Tables were well filled and games and visits kept all ages engaged. Attendees included A H Higley wife and daughters Evelyn and Almona plus numerous families and relatives.
Forest Wakefield of Tuxley Iowa visited friends in Moravia over the weekend. Bill says his high school basketball team is in great shape with eight wins and two losses this season. Mrs W G Main of Centerville was a visitor in Moravia Tuesday afternoon.
The Chariton Township Farm Bureau monthly meeting was held at the Christian Church in Teenium on Thursday evening February 6. President Milo Foster presided. W. E H. Krizer of Eddyville spoke on Farm Bureau activities and achievements. County Agent Leo Bowdish showed five reels of The Building of an Empire about the making of the West. Sixty people attended.
