The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 407 of Unionville held its regular January meeting on Wednesday January 27 at 1 30 pm with 12 members present. Chaplain Ellen Davis led the prayer and colors were presented by Dorothy Smith. A thank you note from N M Purdum for a Christmas gift was read along with a letter from Department Vice-President Mrs Long. Scholarships were discussed and the unit contributed 25 to the United Cerebral Palsy Telethon in Ottumwa. Old nylon hose were designated for the Mental Health hospital at Clarinda to stuff toys. The meeting closed with a social hour and refreshments served by Laverna Riegel and Ebien Davis.
Taylor Aid met at Virginia Pettibone home on Friday February 5 for regular session. Members and guests shared a cooperative dinner including Argo Boyer Harsh Schrodt Spencer Wilson Pettibone Free and Alberta Spencer among others. Lois Wilson chaired. Gladys Harsh read minutes and roll call. A get well card was sent to Anna Hiatt. The group voted to donate to needy organizations again this year. Birthday gifts went to Mary Meadows and Gladys Harsh. Dorothy Boyer won the door prize. Next meeting with Winifred Schrodt is March 5.
