County Extension Director John McGaughey told Appanoose dairymen that a dairy cow requires three to five gallons of water per gallon of milk this winter. Cows drink more when water is freely available after dry feed and tend to be thirsty after feeding.
After Harry Davies failed to return from a coon hunt near McGregor, neighbors searched the area. Davies’s loyal dog led them to his body, on which the dog had kept an all night vigil. Cause of death listed as a heart attack.
