The Aiatasville community records numerous Christmas visits and dinners. Families including Horstman, Histt, Coulson, Hiatt, McDanel, McDonel, Tucker, Rose, and others hosted kin for Christmas meals. Several residents note Thanksgiving greetings and upcoming school vacation as well.
Omega residents share Christmas visits with Bal lengar McCumbers Locke men and Hendersons. A Fairview Wednesday night production Aunt Dings Quilting Party raised 11.90 in proceeds. Rural families extend greetings and cite federal programs like NRA RFC CWAs and corn loans hoping for a prosperous new year.
Darby and family shared Christmas turkey with Willard Cohagan family in Blakesburg. Zell Wilson and family visited Eph Wilson. Fos ter school Christmas program well attended. Hazel College program attended by locals. Darby family at Geo Darby home for Christmas dinner. Road project linking Albia Foster to Urbana Center underway. Elmora school program well attended. pupils spent evening with teacher Donald Darby and Foster program. Christmas greetings express hope for New Year and shared goodwill.
Franklin and surrounding area report wintry conditions as residents observe the holiday season. Misa Maxine Stansberry attends Cedar Rapids high school and spends vacation at home. Mr and Mrs John Moffatt visited Frank Cox's home in Moravia Sunday evening. Daisy Moffatt also paid a call there.
George Shehan hosted Monday morning visitors including Mr and Mrs Veen Turner Mr and Mrs Roscoe Argo Miss Mandana Jennings and Mr and Mrs Herbert Dodo with daughter Veda and Beulah and son Harold Also Mrs Marie Dodge and son Harold spent a day last week at the Stansberry home Mrs Maxine Repp called at the Shehan residence Friday morning
Numerous families and relatives from Moravia Udell and nearby towns celebrate Christmas with extended kin. Guests include the Alden and Underwood households, W H Underwood, Caylor, Spurgeon, McMullin, More, Morse, Stanley and Robb families among others. Communal dinners and visits span Des Moines to Ottumwa and Kansas City.
James Morrison of Chicago visits with his parents Mr and Mrs W I Morrison. Numerous teachers and students return home for holidays including LaRue Morrison at Hull and Oswald Rowe in Burlington. Families travel Des Moines Knoxville Moravia Bloomfield Troy and Udell for Christmas gatherings and visits.
A digest of Christmas day gatherings lists Miss Emma Woods Henry Arthgon Charley Jones and others visiting at the John Johnson home. Visitors included Mr and Mrs Jeff Patrick A W Mangle and mother at the U Mangle home. Additional calls were made to Eph Wilson I A Hallingsworth Martinsburg and O G Davis households with multiple family members noted.
Christmas day and weekend calls filled area homes as families dropped by relatives and friends. Cheres Wendell Willard Wilbur Coretta Cloyed Gerald Luse attended Ernest Mangle’s, while Carlyle Lorig visited Don Hayes. Eph Wilson hosted Christmas day guests Gabe Johnson and Ruth Long visitors.
Mrs Bayardeff and Bernard visited Mrs J J Jones home with Bernard improving from illness. Miss Clelia Jones held a program with pupils and a free Friday with treats. Bible School had homemade candy. Helping Hand club met Mr Mrs Ernest McKay with 30 present. Ladies quilt blocks. men cut wood. Mary Faber staying with daughter Mrs LeRoy Harvey in Oskaloosa. Guy Roberts and Silbert visited Centerville. J T Van Dorin and sons drove Clara Selby to Ottumwa to see relatives. J P Morlock ill but Pearly. Selby Mary Main and children visited Charles Pabst. Lowell Van Dorin Sunday in LeRoy Iowa.
Mr and Mrs Wm Giltner and sons attended six o clock dinner at the parental Giltner home Sunday. Mrs Leta McCoy and Margaret came Christmas day to spend a few days at the Smith Giltner home. Mr and Mrs RB Faber and sons, Mr and Mrs J T Van Dorin and family were open to Christmas at the parental Van Dorin home in Moravia. Guy Roberts and family were Christmas dinner guests at the Uther I Roberts home in Albia. Geo Cloyed and Mr and Mrs Bad Hawk spent Christmas with Mr and Mrs Russell Davis near Carlyle. Club will meet this Thursday with Mr and Mrs C S Milter. There spending Christmas at the J J Selby and Tom Main home were Mr and Mrs Vergil Johnson and daughters, Mr and Mrs William Barnes and son, Mr and Mrs Russell Glasple and son and Mr and Mrs Chas Pabst. Virginia daughter of Mr and Mrs Burl Stanley of Nampa Idaho was operated on December 1 for appendicitis. Last report was that she was doing fine. Mr and Mrs Edd Anderson of Ottumwa, Miss Ruth Behrens of Mt Pleasant were here to spend Christmas with their parents Rev and Mrs J C Behrens. Mrs Henry Rhee of Blakesburg was a Sunday visitor with friends here.
The District Court of Appancose County Iowa appointed Mary M Rice as executrix of J H Rice estate. Creditors must present claims authenticated to the court for allowance, and all debts are to be paid to the undersigned. Dated Nov 20 1938. Harry Greenleaf, Attorney.
