Democratic Women’s Club Meets at Centerville

Appanoose County Democratic Women’s Club of Iowa met at Centerville Community Center on Tuesday evening November 16 with Barbara Kauzlarich presiding. Officers elected included Doris Steele as president Barbara Kauzlarich as vice president Jesse Marie Steele as 1st vice president Mrs Ivan Wright as secretary and Doris as another officer. The group planned a rummage sale for Friday morning November 19 at 8 30 at the Community Center.

Moravia Farm FS Tour Highlights Local Honor Roll Visit

A Moravia Farm Service Co tour for M H S Honor Roll students and local patrons spanned two days visiting FS facilities in Iowa and Illinois. The group toured a new mill addition, Kingston Mines terminal, IAA building in Bloomington, and a Feed Research Farm near Lexington, hearing from managers and touring operations plus noting 640 miles traveled.

Helping Neighbors Meet At Weber Home Tuesday

The Udell Helping Neighbors club met at Mrs. Marie Weber's home on Tuesday December 7 for its regular gathering. The day featured the annual gift exchange and mystery friends reveal. Members packed candy and cookie boxes for service members, with husbands invited as guests.

District board notes from November meetings and dinner

Houser, treasurer and Gladys Harsh, Alberta Benz and Evyline Kincade serve as board members. Reports were given by attendees of the 4th District meeting on November 9 and by those at the dinner honoring Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey on November 13. The next meeting is scheduled for the second Tuesday in January.

FFA Meeting Plans Banquet and Pest Hunt Contrast

The December 3, 1965 FFA meeting led by President Russell Bettis reviewed supervised farm program committees and progress. A banquet was planned for April 15 with an alternate date the 20th. pest control efforts target pigeons, mice, rats, crows, starlings, sparrows, and other pests as the Eddyville chapter rivals. Independent Pioneers 4-H Meeting Report

Dennis Walker chaired the Independent Pioneers 4-H meeting. The pledge to the American flag was recited, Chuck Moore read the minutes, and names were drawn for the Christmas gift exchange. The group voted on gift funds, and the meeting closed with the 4-H pledge. Refreshments were hosted by Mr and Mrs Paul E Dicks.

Moravia Smorgasbord Draws Community Crowd

Nearly everyone in the Moravia area attended the Thursday smorgasbord. Delbert Calhoun and family visited Carol Calhoun at Albia hospital Monday. Lloyd Brown and family joined Wendell Murdy's household Saturday. Delbert Calhoun also spent evenings at Raymond Perry and Ben Pickerell homes. Clarence Whitehead helped with Centerville hospital auxiliary bazaar Friday. Jerry Brown and family plus Don West were noted in local social activity.
