Dr J Richard Sneed pastor of First Methodist Los Angeles will address Moravian Methodist Church on Sunday Sept 7. A Moravia native and nationally noted preacher, he plans to visit friends and relatives in Moravia and Moulton. his mother Mrs J B Sneed of Peoria Ill may join him for the service.

Verna Harper daughter of Mr and Mrs Walter Harper and George Nott were married at 2 pm Sunday Aug 17 at Untiort Park Christian Church in Des Moines The Rev Mr Murrow officiated The wedding party included matron of honor Mrs James Taylor and bridesmaid Mary Lou McDonough both of Des Moines The bride wore a white satin and taffeta ballerina gown with a lace jacket and shell hat The groom and attendants wore white dinner jackets with carnation boutonnieres A reception followed and the couple left for a two week trip to northern Minnesota and Canada The Nott family ties and his employer G E X ray are noted

Verna Violet Rouge Rouse was among 119 graduates at Iowa State Teachers College Cedar Falls summer session exercises. Accident Cuts Phone Cable at Moravia Firm Yard

A 400 wire Moravia Telephone cable was severed near the McClurg Implement Co rear during a post hole digger demonstration. The cut disrupted all phones north of the site and 17 farm lines while workers from Centerville and Knoxville spliced and identified wires, completing repairs by Monday morning.

Monroe County Girls Win Blue Ribbons at State Fair

At the State Fair eight entries were shown by Monroe County girls and six won blue ribbons. Aileen Turner and Martha McCord received blue ribbons for picture frame and chair covering. Aileen Turner and Patty Rogers will demonstrate 4-H on Friday at 1 45 p.m.

The ladies of the Church of Christ will serve a noon Wednesday meal. The menu includes chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cabbage salad, hot rolls, pie, coffee and tea.

No School Lunches Next Week At Local School

Superintendent John T. Card announces no lunches will be served the first week due to installing new kitchen units in the homemaking and hot lunch room. Three additional units are being added for instruction. Work expected to finish in time for lunches to resume on Sept 8, with a firm notice to follow at school.

The Moravia school band played Monday at the Plaza at the State Fair under the direction of James Main, Moravia band and music instructor. Members wore new band uniforms as they performed for attendees.

Shooting Stars A Success On Stage

The firemen sponsored show Shooting Stars drew solid crowds at the school house last Wednesday and Thursday. Miss Helen Paulsen of Berkley directed the talent night with Mary Rose Main at the piano. Colin Cridlebaugh led the tiny tot contest as king and Joyce McDonough as queen. Gold loving cups were awarded to the winners, with Irene Tadlock and R. C. Wilson taking door prizes and Sue Easter earning the top ticket seller prize.

Moravia Rebekahs Plan Oil Heater for Hall

The Moravia Rebekah lodge met at the I. O. O. F. hall with Mrs. Leo Hoffman presiding in place of Noble Grand Mrs. Lawrence Roland. They voted to pay half the expenses of an oil heater for the hall as committee members served ice cream, roll, and coffee after the meeting.
