Superintendent John T Card announced the Moravia school opens Monday Sept 1 after a facelift of grade rooms and gym facilities. Eight teachers return with seven new hires. buses may run earlier to start between 8 30 and 8 48 am. Students from New Hope and Hilton expected, with more new equipment and modern texts planned.

The annual VanDorin reunion gathered 69 attendees on August 17 1952 at Moravia park but moved to the Community building due to threatening weather. Norman Firkins, son of Mr and Mrs George Firkins, has been named Chief Fiscal Accountant at the U S Naval Magazine Port Chicago California. He assumed the post on August 4 after serving as Budget Administrator at Mare Island Naval Depot. A 16 year Civil Service veteran, he began as Junior Clerk Typist at Mare Island Shipyard in 1936. Moravia Fire Department sponsors a two night home talent show at Moravia high school auditorium on August 20 and 21 with a 50 member cast including chorus girls singers dancers and announcers. The production opens with Milton Berle appearing as director in charge and John Wilson portraying the role. The show depicts a central Nationwide Television studio backdrop and aims to capture coast to coast TV realism as acts practice on stage before curtain. Mrs Pauline Harp and Laddy Todey of Rathbun wed August 16 and began a brief honeymoon after the ceremony at Mystic Rectory.

Missionary Group Meets in Park with Hosts Dana Easter
The Junior Missionary group of the Methodist church met Wednesday afternoon in the park with Dana and Joe Easter as hosts. Mrs. Cecil Coulson and Mrs. Curtis Tomlin led the devotional period and reviewed Africa. They read Nypengo of the Congo, enjoyed group singing, and a games hour. Dana and Joe, helped by their sister Francis Ann, served cookies and Kool-Aid to 17 percent.
