The flu spread causes illness in the town while a bicycle club launches a "bicycle accessor ial" drive. Riders urge hornless drivers to equip lights and extras and push stricter rule following as gatherings form at street centers and parks.
Absent from the Union office this week, Gary Hilton shined at the Albia fair with seven blue ribbons, two reserve champions and two grand champions in baby beef and dairy. his 4-H start came as a freshman with a purebred Angus heifer. Work and training behind every win, lessons on both winning and losing.
Mrs H B Spring hosts and visits with Mr and Mrs Leslie Potter and others in Centerville and Udell. Families attend Watchman quartet in West Grove and the Houser reunion at the park. Birthday celebrations, baptisms, and sympathy extend to Mrs Murdy. A farewell dinner for Bernard Pugh is planned for Udell. The Whisler relatives hold a smaller reunion at Centerville park with local attendees.
Miller by Mrs Wilbur Miller notes attendances at a funeral for Van Dorin in Seymour and visits to ill L M Andrews and Frank McCabe’s sister. numerous local residents share Wednesday evening gatherings in Centerville Albia Moravia Melrose and Moravia park reunion attendees from class of 46 at Moravia park with families and neighbors listed.
Mrs Dick Brown reports visits across Pleasant Hill with the Callen and Brown families at Moberly Missouri. Nellie Thompson saw Vera Firkins and Clara Brown attended a 4 H show at Salem church. Vera Moore visited Frank Tarbell. Derby family and Russell Brown hosted guests Wednesday evening. Helen McAninch and Connie McAninch met Nona Dicks. Dunham family stayed at Russell Brown from Wednesday to Friday. Des Moines guest Mrs Orma Morris of Des Moines had Thursday dinner with Mrs Theda Stevens.
A string of visits and dinners across Ottumwa and nearby towns includes Phyllis and Judith BrosHar at the Russell Brown home, Mabel Abbott and Flo Chambers among others, Elbert Moore and Tarbell households hosting guests, and many attendees at the Tesniuim Methodist church homecoming. Rosy hospitality spans the Tarbell, Brown, Moore, Stevens, and Dicks families with neighbors calling on hospitals and visiting relatives in Newton and Bloomfield.
A string of Sunday guests included Mr and Mrs DaVegne Mote with Jan and Russell, Mr and Mrs Dick Biden at the Jint Me Aninch home, and visitors Mr and Mrs Roy Argo with children. Also present were Mr and Mrs Russell Bawn and Mr and Mrs Truxton Dicks at the Lloyd Brown home.
