The Gearhardt Concert Company returns to our Chau tauqua season on Friday offering a mixed program of musical numbers sketches impersonations and novelty acts. The act is well known from larger circuits and is expected to be a standout afternoon and evening program.
Moravia Iowa council conducted a continued session hearing the tax levy for 1924. No objections filed. the 1926 budget approved. August 2 1926 regular meeting notes list members, minutes from July 6 read, and bills approved across funds including park cemetery street light and hall fund payments. A closing quip about a road hog references right of way.
A man posing as William Daggett of Ottumwa visited Moravia garages to buy old storage batteries with fake checks. Local merchants suspected the fraud, verified Ottumwa bank records, and followed Daggett to Centerville where the batteries were sold to a junk dealer. Moravia and surrounding community mourn the death of Senator Albert B. Cummins who passed away in Des Moines last Friday. A long trusted leader, Cummins served Iowa as governor for three terms and later as U S Senator for eighteen years, earning broad confidence for a lifetime of public service.
