Hawk Explains Deductions In Soil Conservation Program
Monroe County farmers under the new farm program face deductions from payments if soil conservation standards are not met in 1936. Deductions cap at total payments due. A 1% per acre deduction applies for shortfalls in soil conserving crops, with special rules for flax and sugar beets. Overplanting soil depleting crops also triggers deductions at about $10 per acre.
