Legislation Stalls as Assembly Divides on Reports
Debate grips the General Assembly over timing of committee reports on university oversight and education board findings. Tax bills falter with cigarette and tobacco levies defeated 23 to 9, while senatorial redistricting proposals face select changes. House trims mileage for county officials and backs a flat 7 percent tax levy reduction, with Turner’s tax reform hopes fading as income tax plans stall.
