Arch Thompson and family shopped Moravia Saturday. R S Faber and others visited Arch Thompson Sunday. Sunday hosts at J L Jones included Dorin Wates Bayard Neff Lincox McFall Van Dorin Van Dorin Clella Jones Kenneth Free. McKay family heard of brother-in-law's death in an Ottumwa area automobile accident Friday. Local residents also shopped in Albia Saturday. Over forty attended Sunday School.
Fairview Myrtice Proctor visited Fairview school Monday. Mr and Mrs Elvin Stocker and children were callers in Blakesburg Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Eunice Leffler and children spent Tuesday at the Tom Proctor Miss Daisy Dowd is spending a few days at the home of her brother Stanford Dowd and family in Hiattsville. Mrs Sim Stacker of Blakesburg spent a few days last week at the Elvin Stocker home. John Hertzen and family spent Sunday at the Tom Draka home. Mr and Mrs Clyde Boyd were callers at the Pete Pappas home Monday evening. G W Irelan and daughter Clara spent Wednesday at the Clint Irelan Ray Fletcher spent the week end with his parents Ezra Costrain and family were Sunday visitors at the Mrs Ella Luck man home. Side streets and in drivers are bad combinations.
Town of Moravia Iowa by its council on April 6 1931 directs notice of a pending Resolution of Necessity to finance and construct street improvements. A May 4 1931 meeting will allow property owners to object and the council will decide on final passage. Public notice to Moravia Union.
Hiattville notes list visits and changes including Mary Bellman’s serious illness, repairs on the Ben White farm windmill, Opal Callen taking a Centerville school position, and several Sunday gatherings. Local residents attend cantata at Moravia, Rev Hawkins at Wesley, and changes include the Crow family moving back to Unionville while caring for a mother.
In the Kaufer area, Geo R Darby and mother were in Moravia Saturday. Alec Johnson, John Robinson, Donald Darby and the M M Darby family visited Albin Saturday. Zell Wilson wife and son LeRoy traveled Moravia Saturday evening, calling at Eph Wilson’s home. Everett Anderson and wife and daughter Willia visited Foster Sunday. John Robinson and sister visited the Gee Darby home Sunday. Charley Hough and Win Easter were in the valley Friday afternoon with eight wolf pups captured nearby. Alec Johnson’s with Mrs Johnson’s mother Sunday. Randall Hoffman county agent and Mr Krizer were in the valley Friday afternoon. The scribe enjoyed an hour chat with them.
The Farm Bureau reports increased membership while Hilton people staged a successful Wednesday night play. Scribe missed due to cook’s illness. Hay hauling occurred from Herman Johnson to Alec Johnson and Caster. A County Ministerial Association meeting at Centerville Christian Church featured Rev Zerbe Rev Hankins and talks on church matters. Next gathering set for May 1 at Fairview Church of the Brethren with program and supper. Mrs James Black in Town City for daughter‑in‑law illness.
