Moravia to obtain natural gas system via franchise plan
At a special Mo ravia town council meeting an ordinance authorized a natural gas distribution for the town as Moravia Gas company proposes extending a line from the Michigan Wisconsin pipeline about 11 miles south of town to Albia. A May franchise election will authorize placing mains along town streets with no town or property owner cost, optional hookup at no charge up to the foundation, then a minimum bill of 1 dollar monthly. non hooking later would incur gas line to home costs. Buss said gas heating is economical and clean, convertible from propane, oil, or coal units, and expects federal approval this week. If approved, four weeks for engineering and about 90 days to complete.
