Morrell Chorus to Present Program at Methodist Church

The Morrell male chorus, an amateur group of about 25 men from the Ottumwa plant, will perform Wednesday evening April 8 at the Methodist church. A 6:30 cooperative dinner precedes the 8:00 program in the sanctuary with no admission charge. Director John Moses and accompanist Mrs. Kathryn Carlson lead a group that donates 300 to 400 hours yearly and gives about 50 concerts within 100 miles of Ottumwa.

Band Mothers Plan Banquet and Concert

Band Mothers met in the school homemaking room on March 30 to arrange an FFA banquet at the schoolhouse on April 3 and a concert at the same location on April 6. Mothers urged Moravia residents to attend to support the band, with refreshments provided by Helen O Connor Opal Blumer and Mildred Gladfelder.

Grandma Hilton of Osborne Dies at 84 in Centerville

Ina Irene Hilton daughter of Timothy and Maria Latham was born October 11 1874 in Osborne Kansas. She died March 22 1959 in St Joseph hospital Centerville Iowa aged 84 years 6 months and 19 days after a fall and hip fracture. She married William Hil son June 3 1902 and they farmed in Wayne and Appanoose counties before his 1948 death. Survived by daughter Vesta Reeves and son-in-law William, daughter-in-law Daphne Hilton, sister-in-law Grace Latham, nephew Ervin Latham, niece Mrs Gertrude Finney, three grandchildren Doyle James Hleta and six great grandchildren. She united with the Christian church of Osborne and was noted as a kind mother and loving grandmother.

Eugene Clubine of Dunkerton Iowa and a 1958 farm youth exchange delegate to the Philippine Islands will be the speaker at the annual FFA banquet for parents and sons held Friday night in the school gym. He attends Iowa State College majoring in Animal Husbandry and has nine years in 4 H work plus college activities. He spent five months in the Philippines living with farm families. Farm Bureau Women to Washington on Iowa trip

Eighty four Iowa farm women from 82 county bureaus will travel by chartered buses to Washington, D C, April 6 to 9. They will meet Iowa’s congressional delegation, tour Mt Vernon Arlington Cemetery Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument, visit the Capitol and U S Department of Agriculture, attend an American Farm Bureau breakfast and a dinner with Iowa lawmakers, and hear talks by four members. Members of the E T C club meet Thursday afternoon with Mrs Gerald Morgan for their regular meeting. The roll call was some novelty I intend to plant in my garden this summer. Death notice of Harry DuVall 64 Moravia Iowa area

Harry Arthur DuVall 64 died at his farm near Moravia after a period of illness. Born February 26, 1895 in Monroe County, he married Winifred Darby on December 25, 1915. Surviving are his wife, two brothers LeRoy and Warren, two sisters Nell Pelkington and Mary Johnson, plus nieces, nephews and many friends. Services were March 29 at Turner Funeral Home Moravia with burial in Moravia Cemetery.

Cameron Rites Held for Keith Cameron at Newton
