Annual Athletic Banquet at New Mora High Gym

About 200 people attended Mora high school’s annual athletic banquet in the new gymnasium. University of Iowa performers Don Carney and Jon Boulton showcased gymnastic acts under Coach Dick Holzaepfel as letter awards were handed to numerous seniors and managers, with remarks from Coach Bill Austin and honored guests.

Senior Play Cast and Crime Mystery at Pem broke High

The senior play Lock Stock and Lipstick directed by Mr. Sheldon features Gordon Warren as guidance counselor and a large cast including Mary Lou Brennan and Miss Entewhistle. Larry Donley is suspected in misplaced money, but the mystery resolves. The performance is April 13 at Pem broke High School auditorium.

Layman's Banquet Held in Chariton April 12

Farm Program Explained Friday Meeting in County

An all county meeting will be held at the McCreary safe barn Friday evening to explain the new government farm program. Count Extension Director Harold Helder says the session at 7 36 will cover program details and is open to all farmers and interested persons who are urged to attend. This will be the only such meeting in the county.

The Shanghai club met on Wednesday March 29 with Bertha Overturf. A co op dinner followed for members and visitors including Bert and Hazel Rinehart, Dorothy Calhoun, Cora Murphy and many others. Fenton Named Moravia School Superintendent For Term

Moravia board contracted A R Fenton to return as Moravia schools superintendent. He previously served 1953 1960 and led Hedrick schools last term while E L Burton’s future remains unsettled. The board also hired Jerry Hinote as elementary custodian and Darrell Holtz as Spanish instructor with other staffing moves and plans for a full time band instructor and half time vocal music instructor.

The Moravia Garden Club met with Mrs Zell Callen on Wednesday afternoon, 18 members attended. Mrs Gerald Morgan led opening prayers and the treasurer's report, followed by a plant or bulb exchange and committee reports on plans for a plant sale and a flower show. Mrs Callen led the program. Mrs Wm Woodward spoke on state and national birds with a bird picture. Easter parade of spring flowers was noted. Gifted mystery prizes went to several members.
