House panel accuses cement trust ties in highway deals
A House investigative committee reported last week collusion and possible criminal negligence by the cement trust and highway commission. Five signatories backed the findings while Rep S B Durant of Forest City refused to sign, saying he was not consulted. The charges prompted counterclaims by Mr. White and a demand for investigation. If the House does not pursue it, the Senate may push for inquiry.

Non-Partisan Judiciary Moves Defeated in House Vote
A bid to require non-partisan tickets for supreme court and district judge nominations failed 54 to 50 in the House. Another proposal to switch county superintendent elections to the general election was defeated. Future candidates must receive twenty days notice from the county board of education. Committees are cautious with bills as passage in one house no longer guarantees final approval.
