Arbuckle Case In White County Draws Attention
Jesse Arbuckle of West Point Township pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a still and received a 200 damage fine plus three months at the Indiana State Farm near Greencastle. Seventeen quarts of white mule and the still were seized during the July raid. Arbuckle, 37, had lived near Otterbein before moving to White County and was living alone on the farm.

Delphi street case ends in hung jury after long deliberation
After eighteen hours of deliberation the jury could not agree and was discharged by Special Judge B. B. Berry. The receiver seeks payment for work on Delphi street improvements. The city says the work was not completed per plans and would not pay. The ten men and two women jury, a White County first, failed to reach a verdict. The case had drawn Delphi residents and witnesses and dated back years on venue from Carroll County.

Sheriff in Rensselaer Gun Battle Kills Maniac Suspect
In Rensselaer Monday night a gun fight with Adam Schroeder left him dead after he fired on Sheriff Woodworth and officers. Woodworth was wounded but not seriously, and the siege ended when deputies and firemen shot Schroeder as he tried to escape. Schroeder, a German native and former inmate of insane hospitals, had a history of threats against the sheriff and had barricaded himself in a hotel room before the fatal exchange.

Howard Alexander a day laborer around Chalmers was arraigned in circuit court on a charge of stealing an overcoat from Chalmers merchant Edward Strantz. Strantz found the coat in Alexander's room after a search warrant. Alexander could not post bond and was remanded to jail to await trial next week.
