Decoration Day Observed in Monticello by Veterans and Legion
Decoration Day will be fittingly observed in Monticello next Monday with Thornton Williams Post No 8 American Legion joining Civil War and Spanish American War veterans and citizens in paying tribute to fallen soldiers. The program includes reveille, morning salute, a parade to the cemetery, services at the cemetery and Methodist church, prayers, addresses by Legion leaders, music by choirs and quartets, and a union memorial service at the Presbyterian church.

Mowrer Found Not Guilty After Jury Verdict
A ten member jury not guilty of assault and battery against Clarence Benjamin after deliberating at Delphi. Special Judge John L. Hanna instructed the panel around three o clock. The case arose from an alteration at the Cable farm Liberty Township on June 13 1920. Mowrer then resided in Barnettsville and the action began in Justice of the Peace FE G Smiths court before moving to the circuit court.

Ira Cress Dead Civil War Veteran Dies in Lafayette
Ira Cress a civil war veteran died at the Soldiers Home hospital in Lafayette after an extended illness. Born September 27 1844 in Miami County Indiana he married Nancy Jane Ballard on January 23 1868 and had seven children four survive. Funeral from the family home 3017 West Broadway with Rev Elvin Daniels officiating. burial in Riverview cemetery.

Near River Victims Rescued by Quick Fisherman Hero
Thomas E. Conn of this city and Emmett L. Shephard of Bloomington were nearly drowned last Thursday afternoon when their boat capsized near the dam. Harry Wert, eighteen, who was fishing nearby, towed them ashore after they slipped under twice. Both men were conscious and revived with help. Shephard, a visiting nephew of Mr. Mann, later left for Indianapolis.

Local People Involved In Logansport Car Crash
In Logansport Mr and Mrs Cliff Hughes and Mr and Mrs Martin Hughes were in an accident when a Ford roadster driven by Russell Kilmer son of George B Kilmer collided with a Ford touring car owned by Cliff Hughes. The impact overturned the larger car against a wire fence causing cuts bruises and a badly sprained knee for Mrs Martin Hughes. Kilmer sustained no injuries and the Ford roadster suffered extensive damage especially the 30th ears.

Two Monticello Youths Sentenced for Factory Office Robbery
Two Monticello youths Daniel Gressmyer nineteen and William Behrens seventeen were sentenced to two to fourteen years in the Indiana Reformatory at Jeffersonville after pleading guilty to attempting to rob the Shultz Manufacturing Company plant office. They were captured after Mrs. John Nicholas spotted them prying the window with a jimmy, triggering a pursuit by Marshal John Luse and Deputy Rothrock. Grassmyer was captured after a brief chase. Behrens fled but identified by Grassmyer and arrested later. They appeared in White Circuit Court before Judge Berry and were taken to the reformatory Friday aboard the Monica railroad line. Behrens had prior trouble and was released under a suspended sentence months earlier.

Accident near Wolcott injures Haskett couple
An automobile crash at the Miller corner six miles south of Wolcott Saturday evening nearly cost the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Haskett of Chicago. Mrs. Haskett was thrown free. Mr. Haskett pinned beneath the touring car with a fractured pelvis and internal injuries. Both were taken to St Elizabeth hospital and then to Chicago. The Hasketts were en route to Indianapolis. a Chicago physician joined the local doctors at Lafayette.

Funeral services were held from the home by Rev Heter Sunday afternoon with interment at Yeoman cemetery.
