Death of Adia Breeding in South Bend
Mrs Herschel Spitler reports the death of Adia Breeding, formerly of White County, who died last Thursday in South Bend after injuries from a late accidental strike by a truck. The funeral was held Saturday at her parents’ home, with her husband serving in the military. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reingardt and son Bert, and Mrs. W. W. Scott.

Mysterious visitors stalk four men near city homes
Four unknown men prowling about the neighborhood south of the city Sunday night caused excitement. They visited George and Bernie Pierce and Raymond Snowhberger homes, flashed lights as they moved, tried to force entry, and vanished into darkness. A citizen posse hunted them until early Monday. One shot was fired at 4:30 a.m. but no arrests were made. Residents believe they could identify the men if seen again.

Lieut. Clifton Barnes and Mrs. Barnes were wed in Indianapolis last Wednesday morning and visited his parents in Monticello before moving to Louisville to reside while he awaits reassignment. Barnes rose from Battery C to a commission at Camp Taylor after serving on the Mexican border. Mrs. Barnes, Vivian Dobbins, is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. L. Dobbins of Walcott.

Mary Magdalene Kraut Johnson died suddenly at Reynolds on November 26 after a brief illness. Born February 6, 1878 near Reynolds, she was a Lutheran and wife of Newton Johnson. The War Mothers of White County held Sunday exercises at the Strand Theatre filling the venue beyond capacity. The program included a flag presentation, township roll call, patriotic addresses, and music by local student groups.
