In White County a two year old, Virgil Brown Stinson, was killed when drawn into a manure spreader at his parents home near Palestine church northeast of Wolcott. His sister Mildred aged five also present escaped. Coroner M M Hughes ruled accidental death after an inquest. Funeral held at home with Rev Robt Ross officiating.

Bad Checks Lead to Lafayette Arrests and Bonds
Harry G. Wilson of Lafayette, once employed by G. A. Stephan in this city, was bound over at Lafayette last week on charges of issuing a twenty five dollar bad check to Solomon T. Tuttle from the Farmers and Traders Bank. A second bad check for thirty dollars to H. G. Reisner was found and an additional affidavit filed. Bond was fixed at 500 in each case, with more checks likely to be used in subsequent hearings. Wilson, an insurance agent, and Dr. Ricker’s upcoming visit are noted alongside local advertisements for a manure spreader and John Deere and International line equipment.

A very large crowd gathered at Headlee church on Sunday August 21 for Sunday school with 168 attendees. Elder Holiday of New Castle preached the dedication sermon in the afternoon. Elders Watsor of Anderson and Fross of Zion Bethel joined Rev. Elmore and the pastor for the service. About 400 dollars was raised to cover a deficiency, and an aid meeting drew a large Thursday turnout.

Two Cousins Injured in Round Grove Gravel Pit Cave-In
Lewis Shoop of Brookston and Henry Shoop of Lake Cicott were trapped in a cave-in at a Round Grove Township gravel pit Tuesday. They were rushed to Lafayette hospital with serious injuries including crushed and possible lung damage for Lewis and leg fractures for Henry. Funeral services for Richard Cornell aged 73, a longtime resident of the Mt Olive area and Ida ville, were held at his daughter's home with Rev H L Alley and the Idaville I O O F lodge in attendance.
